Abaia

Protector of Lakes

Protector of Lakes

Abaia is found in the Melanesian Folklore, from the Solomon Islands, Fiji, and Vanuatu.

The Abaia is described mostly as a large eel, possible similar to a Moray Eel but living in freshwater lakes and considerably bigger!

Abaia is a protective creature, protecting the fish of its lakes and causing death and destruction to anyone who dares to harm the creatures under its protection. To the Abaia, the lakes and fish are its children, and it will do anything to protect them.
